Greens hit at modified foods
THE Green Party has stepped up its opposition to genetically modified products, beginning a series of protests outside supermarkets stocking altered foods or supporting literature.
It has made a complaint about the appearance in supermarkets of "pro-genetic engineering" pamphlets, to the Advertising Standards Complaints Board.
The pamphlets, headed GM Foods -Answers to Your Questions, and with a forward by Royal Society of New Zealand president Sir John Scott, were part of a multinational global disinformation campaign, party co-leader Jeanette Fitzsimons said.
"The organic alternatives are completely ignored."
Green Party members would be approaching supermarket managers, suggesting shops stock balancing literature.
